Has anyone here had bad results from using soda ash or urea bought at Agway (Agway is our feed and seed store in this area)? I've bought both of these supplies there the last few years without any negative results that I am aware of. I've passed this tip(?) along to several other dyers and have had responses that these products are inferior. Any thoughts? 50 Lbs of urea ( pure nitrogen fertilizer) is sold there for around 18 dollars a bag. Soda ash which they sell for treating water wells is around 30 bucks a 50 lb bag.

I've had good luck buying bulk chemicals from unusual sources. AS I recall there was some discussion somewhere about feed urea versus fertilizer. I believe fertilizer was preferable. I usual bought my soda ash from pool supply stores. The $50 price tag sounds kind of high, but it has been many years since I've bought it.
