ive seen on here that pretty much all of you guys make your own dye. how do you make your own dye? i always just bought mine from an arts and crafts store

I get my dye powders from Dharma Trading, which is an art supply store in Calif.  Then I follow their directions to mix with water as needed.  Some dyers also use urea, a humectant in their dyes.  It acts as a wetting agent to keep the dyes moist when you apply them to your garment.  There are other places where you can order dye powders, but since I used to live in CA and now live in AZ, Dharma is the closest to me.

We're not making dyes itself - we may mix it to get new shades. But we still have to buy dye primaries. How you got the idea we're making dyes?
