HI, I just noticed that my synthropol smells like rubbing alcohol. Is it bad? I guess it has to be if it smells like that but I never would have thought that detergent was something that could "go bad". Has this ever happened to you? Happy Holidays! Marg

Hi, Marg.  Synthrapol contains isopropyl alcohol, so that's probably why you are getting the alcohol smell.

Hi Judy, you know, I never smelled it before, really strong like that. Do you think it's alright to use? Marg

I think it should be fine to use. Maybe shake it up a bit first.

Dharma's started selling an alternative to Synthrapol that lacks the isopropanol. I doubt that it is either safer or less safe for the way we normally use it, but the lack of rubbing alcohol means that they don't have to put the "known to the state of California to contain something slightly hazardous" label on it.
