Hey everyone im new to tie dying and my senior prom is coming up. I really wanna do something this year to make prom unforgettable so i was thinking about buying a white suit and then having my friend who is pretty good at tie dye help me do it. I was just wondering if a material like linen or w/e the suit is would actually tie dye and not just mess up the suit? any help anyone can provide would be much appreciated, thanks.

The only thing I'm concerned about with a suit is that the fabric might shrink, or the lining and interfacing inside the suit might get all wonky. My suggestion is to try it on something that you can get at a second hand shop like Goodwill. That way if it doesn't work out the way you want it to, you're not out a lot of money.

You might also want to consider tie dyeing the shirt you wear underneath the suit. That might be interesting to see as well! Dress shirts are much easier to come by, and most of them are cotton.

I know I had an interesting experience trying to dye some silk ties... they definately got wierd with the interfacing that's inside. Apparently the fix to this is to completely deconstruct the tie, cut off some of the inside layer, and sew it all back together. If I wanted to do this, I would have started from scratch and sewn the whole thing myself!
