I have been experimenting with stitching my designs lately on cotton shirts.  I would love to try doing the same on silk, but I am afraid of pulling holes in the fabric.  Has anyone tried this technique?  If so, can you describe how you do it to prevent damage to the fabric?   I am always a little nervous removing the thread, because it is hard to see once I have dyed the garment, so I have been using dental floss lately.  Do you think that would work okay on silk?

Thanks!

No, I imagine that dental floss will leave great big holes in silk. Dental floss is pretty big! What about polyester sewing thread? The fact that it does not take the dye makes it easier to remove afterwards.

When I do this I use polyester thread, usually a bright color like red. I also try to use a beading needle b/c they are much thinner than your average hand sewing needle. Though there have been times I have to use a smaller sized sewing needle b/c of sticthing through multiple layers(i.e. 6 or so) is tough and a beading needle doesn't seem sturdy enough(flexs instead of going through).
