The site is getting more and more hits and traffic is building--yet posts and registrations are DOWN! Sad

Any suggestions as to what I can do to increase participation?

The same goes with the wiki (although that is quite new).

Hi Steve,

I am still tie dyeing and do have lots of questions, many still unformulated fully but one problem I am struggling with is that I have to sort out my posts and I guess I feel discouraged because i'm not always sure where to put my questions.  I guess I kind of wish i could just compose a question/subject and just throw it up there.  It also time consuming, it feels like anyway, to have to go back and forth.  For instance, i want to talk about tee shirt recommendations, ( i remember the last group had a pretty good amt of input on that) but i would have to post this, go back find the cotton section, decide if it needed new subject title or if there was one there already, which requires time/reading, and post again in a different section.  Hmmn, that soundskind of pathetic...it's probably just me, im not the most focused person.
I hope this feedback is accepted well, i'd like to contribute when i have the time, even though i have little to offer...i am appreciative of the work effort you and others have put into this.  It might be that i should just go with the flow and be more adaptable and then i will see that this way is more efficient.

Helena--don't worry about where you post anything. If we need to move it we can--and a link will remain where you originally posted. No one flames around here--so ask away! You can post anything you like in Tie-dye basics.
Thanks!

Hey, Steve,
I am so grateful that you have started this forum up; I really missed Mike Fowler's.  I wonder if in general this is a harder time of year to get lots of participation because most tie-dyers are probably getting ready for their "season", whether that means selling at fairs or outdoor markets or local tourist stops, or perhaps working with kids at the end of school, or teaching at summer camps, or just playing around with the kids in the backyard, putting some dye on fabric!  I feel guilty grabbing a few minutes to check in here, when i know that I should be washing out some shirts, or tieing or dyeing because the kids are sleeping.  What do you think?  Did you notice that participation in the other forum was seasonal to some extent?

peace,
nicole

Hey Nicole--

Actually, I'd noticed that spring/early summer was the busiest at Michael's forum. Indeed, it seems to becoming the case here. Yesterday we had a record 79 unique visitors! The previous high was 46. A lot of the people who come here are not quite as serious about tie-dyeing as we are. That may also explain the number of lurkers as opposed to posters. Registrations have picked up too!

Which reminds me--I reallly need to step up my dyeing soon! Sounds like you are really cranking out some work. I do have some cool new color combinations in the works for shirts this year--time to try them out!

Anyhow--thanks for taking the time to post!
